While I am certain I could dip in some code an make this happen in seconds, my complete lack of knowledge makes this an impressive first step for me in the world of unity!
First up, a camera that moves when you press space bar... Exciting!
A block in space, press space bar… And it gets closer! Amazing!
Next up, and more importantly, I have managed to get a block moving (sliding) around a flat surface.
(The camera is static in this instance.)
It isn’t as advanced as I’d like to be, but for my first day, and with not the most educational tutorials in the world by my side, I am happy to say I have gotten somewhere!
Next up, I got the camera following the character! No picture here, as it would be hard to show.
THEN (Now the next morning.) I got an object to loop through an animation constantly.
As I write this, I am still trying to get it to change from an idle pose/animation to a walk cycle when it starts moving, but there is no reason I couldn’t at least animate the character to be waving his arms around crazily and make it hover to avoid the walk cycle!
Aswell as this, animated geometry also means I could make moving platforms.
I have to say, while I am making progress, it is such a long and hard process to get it right at the moment that I really do want to throw stuff at smaller stuff. (See, I can’t even form a sentence!)
But alas, I have the elements of a game! A block sliding around an environment with moving platforms could easily be made into a simple level.
I look forward to updating you to say that I have figured out making walk cycles go and found a more interesting movement script!
P.S: I have also made it so that if the block falls off of the geometry, it will respawn on top!
Well I've played what you got so far and I find it very impressive indeed :D
