One of my biggest focus has been on the primary assets within the pushing block game.
These are the character, the teleport and the block. These three will be on each elvel, multiple times in most cases, and be the focal point of the player. So as you can imagine, getting these perfect within the setting is of the utmost importance.
Character
With the character, I was primarily trying to make fairly bold and colourful, to stand out amongst the slightly more drab surrounding.
The purpose of the hunch back and horns was to give the character aa strong silhouette, a simple lesson that has stuck with me from my second year character design modle.
Teleport
The teleport was the result of a lot of experimentation. I began by looking at and quickly doodelnig different kinds of teleports, each with very different shapes and sizes.
From here, I took the elements I liked best and mixed them into a smaller group of telept designs, and from this I chose my favourite.
One of the most important elements in choosing this was each one had to have a strong element of colour within it, to differentiate between which teleport will link to which (Red to red, blue to blue) so early on it became the lighting of the portal itself t hat was the difference, as the base of it changing looked a little odd.
Boxes
The boxes.. Well they where a pain. I tried to make them as un-generic as possible; they needed to be recognisable as crates. A little dull, really.
And this concludes this episode of “Important things I have made for this project” (and was only a week late to be posted!)
